| Ties with an Artistic Flair for Fashion I walked into Starbucks today dressed in a Versace Suit, Versace Shirt, cardovan alligator shoes by Taryn Rose and one of my ties. Three people complimented me on my tie as I walked in. The employees all stopped what they were doing to look at my tie. They asked where I got it. I told them that I design silk ties and scarves and manufacture them in Italy. They were amazed. By the time I left Starbucks everyone got a close look at my tie and wanted to know where they could buy them. Not one person complimented me on my suit or shoes! For centuries men have used the necktie as a way to say who they are. It is usually the most flamboyant part of a man's wardrobe. And given that my artwork is full of movement, color and vibration.....they make very unique ties. A friend of mine who works in the fashion industry happened to be in Scottsdale last spring and was able to come to one of my art shows. After seeing my work in person he asked if I had ever printed on silk. |

At that moment I had an epiphany. I saw my artwork on silk ties. I went home and started designing ties. In three weeks I had 48 ties. Three weeks after that my ties were being manufactured in a mill in Italy. In less than ten weeks from my show I had beautiful silk ties in my hands. The ties are made on 100% Italian Silk and hand stitched - the craftsmanship is impeccable but what do you expect from an Italian mill who has been manufacturing silk ties and scarves since the late 1800's! It is not unusual to have so many compliments as I did today at Starbucks - everywhere I go people are drawn to the color and design as they are unlike anything they have seen in neckwear. I remember people coming into the gallery in Scottsdale when I had my first show - it was dark outside and the lights were on my work hanging near the windows in the front of the gallery.
